Want to Keep Families together, there’s Funding for that. Apply Now!

Applications are now open for the opportunity to get some of the $3 million subsidy funding available with Ohio’s county boards of developmental disabilities (DODD and councils of government, to help keep kids at home with their families and in their communities.

The funding vehicle is Keeping Families Together (KFT) funds. Applications can be submitted beginning August 4, 2025 to CBDD_MSY_FlexFunding@dodd.ohio.gov and will close on September 12, 2025.

Funds can be used for supporting families, provider support, environmental needs, service access, local collaboration, county board staff support, or crisis or emergency options through FY26-27.  The purpose of these funds are to create or expand projects that are in alignment with DODD’s Multi-System Youth initiatives and programs. KFT funding can be used efforts to Support for Families including Respite – Maximum of 14 Consecutive Day, In-Home Support or Training, Mentors. Sibling Support, Provider Support. Specialized Training. Transportation. Vehicle Modifications Youth After-School or Camp Programs

HGT funds can also be used for Local Collaboration efforts which include Pool Funding – Must have Letters of Support and Agreement for Matching Funds from Local Partner Agencies. Other areas available to benefit from the funs include Training to support complex case management; Crisis/Emergency Options; Bed Holds; Extended Residential Stays – Maximum of 90 Consecutive Days

KFT funding shall not be used for building homes, to replace HCBS waiver services, or discourage enrollment in HCBS waiver programs.  To apply for KFT funding, applicants need to submit a complete application with contact information, a budget, timeline, and plan for using the funds. Notifications of awards will be sent by September 26, 2025.
