Welcoming America seeks immigrant participation

The week of September 13-21, 2014, has been set aside to highlight the contributions of immigrants to American communities at a nationwide event called National Welcoming week.

Throughout the country, these events will bring together immigrants and U.S.-born community members in a spirit of unity.

ational Partnership for New Americans (NPNA)Partnership for a New American Economy (PNAE), and Americas Society/Council on The Americas (AS/COA) – have already been to Washington to highlight municipal welcoming initiatives, like Welcome Dayton; to lift up the leadership of local communities in immigrant integration  and to highlight the role the federal government can play in supporting and coordinating local integration efforts.

The 2014 National Welcoming week is expected to be greater than the last one.

National Welcoming Week 2013 was a great success with over 150 events attracting 6,000 participants nationwide.
