The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) have introduced a website for an online, account-based system- Electronic Immigration System (ELIS), through which lost green card is easily and conveniently replaced.The System allows lawful permanent resident simply complete Form I-90, Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card, to apply for a replacement or renewal of lost or existing permanent resident card (Green Card).The I-90 process however requires submitting fingerprints in person. Certain applicants can also use the USCIS ELIS to apply for an extension or renewal of their immigration status.

USCIS ELIS also allows applicant to do the following:

•Conveniently and securely set up and manage your account;

•Electronically submit applications and supporting documents;

•Receive and respond to notices and decisions electronically;

•Make payments online; and

•Access real-time information about the status of your cases.

USCIS ELIS can also be used to pay the $165 USCIS Immigrant fee by those granted immigrant visa by the Department of State. While you may pay this fee after immigrating to the United States, USCIS recommends making the payment after receiving the immigrant visa packet from a U.S. Embassy or Consulate abroad (including Canada and Mexico) and before departing for the United States. A permanent resident card (Green Card) is usually not issued until this fee has been paid.

Attorneys, accredited representatives and employers are not authorized to create a USCIS ELIS account on your behalf to pay the USCIS Immigrant Fee. Only the immigrant may open a USCIS ELIS account and pay th

e required fee to obtain your Green Card. Applicants may pay for themselves and any family members who will live with them in the United States.
