African Metro News is a nonprofit digital news organization delivering trusted news, information, and opportunities for African and immigrant communities across North America while strengthening connections with Africa and the global diaspora.
We cover immigration, education, business, technology, culture, public policy, sports, entertainment, and global affairs—telling stories that matter while amplifying voices that deserve to be heard.
Founded by Dr. Olatokunbo "Tokz" Awoshakin, African Metro News traces its origins to the 2007 Creative Communities Leadership Project of Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE),, where Dr. Awoshakin served as one of 32 Community Catalysts and a focus group leader for the UpDayton Project
Today, African Metro News serves readers across the United States, Canada, Africa, and the wider diaspora—connecting communities through trusted journalism, insightful analysis, and stories that inspire.
