United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is inviting individuals, community-based organizations, social service agencies and advocates to a webinar on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. (Eastern) on T and U visas and the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), immigration relief for victims for human trafficking, domestic violence and other serious crimes.
The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) was enacted in 1994 after Congress recognized the severity of violence against women and our need for a national strategy.
This landmark federal legislation’s comprehensive approach to violence against women combined tough new provisions to hold offenders accountable with programs to provide services for the victims of such violence
Representatives USCIS Office of Policy and Strategy and the Vermont Service Center will provide an overview of:
- T and U visa eligibility requirements
- Law enforcement certification
- VAWA eligibility requirements
A question-and-answer period will follow the presentation. Please note that USCIS cannot answer case-specific inquiries during this webinar.
